CT Newsletter: Highlights of 2018

January 3, 2019

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CTHQ!

We're featuring a few of our favorite highlights from the year!

This year we laid the groundwork to ensure that women all over the planet have access to the contraceptive options and fertility information they need. We are looking ahead to exciting things in 2019, but want to take a minute to reflect on the activities of this past year. Thank you to all who have supported our work.

RESEARCH

THE DOT STUDY IS NOW COMPLETE

You may already know this but we're going to say it again anyway... The Dot study is a big deal. A really big deal. Why? Because it's the first contraceptive efficacy study on a fertility app that adheres to established contraceptive efficacy study guidelines. Oh! We lost you there? No biggie. Just check out this blog post or listen to an insightful conversation about the study on YouTube. And stay tuned for the published results in early 2019.

CONTRACEPTIVE EFFICACY STUDY ON DOT FERTILITY APP

The interim study results indicate that the Dot Fertility App is highly effective at preventing pregnancy. These results are published in the journal, Contraception. Can we get a woot WOOT?!

GLOBAL IMPACT

ACHIEVING OUR FP2020 GOALS

CycleBeads, the first simplified fertility awareness method, was tested in 7 countries (Ghana, Kenya, India, Nigeria, Jordan, Egypt, and Senegal) to see how a fertility awareness solution offered through a mobile app addresses women’s needs. Check out the CycleBeads Global Impact Report here and/or read more about the impact.

PRODUCT UPDATES

OVULATION ESTIMATOR

Dot's Ovulation Predictor was launched in February and it's a simple way to get to know your body better and when you're most likely to ovulate. Read more about how it works here.

PREGNANCY MODE

Many of our users wanted a feature where they can "pause" Dot during pregnancy and count down the days until their baby arrives. Earlier this year, we launched the Pregnancy Mode feature which allows users to simply change their setting to "pregnancy mode". Once their periods return back to normal, Dot will pick up where you left off. Learn more about this feature here.

EXPANDING CONTRACEPTION AVAILABILITY WITH CYCLEBEADS & DOT

Translating CycleBeads & Dot into more languages expanded contraceptive access. CycleBeads was already available in English, French, Arabic, Hindi, and Turkish, and we translated CycleBeads into Nepali this year to support exciting research in Nepal! In 2018, we translated the Dot app into Spanish and Portuguese. Stay tuned for more languages in 2019!
